How the KISS Project Works
At R.A.M., we are proud to be part of the KISS Project, an initiative using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve plastic recycling. Since its launch in July 2024, this project has been demonstrating how AI can make recycling smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable.
A Centralized Plastic Database
Plastship is developing a central database that helps AI classify plastics. With structured data, recycling processes become more precise, improving both efficiency and the quality of recycled materials.
AI-Powered Waste Optimization
Through the Plastship platform, companies can log their waste streams and receive AI-driven recommendations for better recycling strategies. This makes recycling more effective and reduces material loss.
“Only structured and meaningful data can take the circular economy to the next level.”
– Andreas Bastian, CEO of Plastship
R.A.M.’s Role in the Project
As a key partner in KISS, R.A.M. focuses on analyzing material impurities and optimizing production processes. Our expertise ensures that recycling meets the highest industry standards.
Other partners in the project include:
- RIGK GmbH – Conducts laboratory tests to evaluate recycled material quality.
- Veridis – Provides precise material data to enhance AI classification.
Together, we are setting new standards for AI-driven plastic recycling.
Progress and Future Outlook
- Advancements in Material Testing – Early test phases have improved plastic classification and recycling processes.
- Environmental Impact – AI and digital tools are optimizing resource use and reducing CO₂ emissions.
- Long-Term Development – With support from the Hessian Ministry for Economic Affairs, the project will continue evolving over the next three years, serving as a model for other industries.
