New AI project for optimizing the circular economy in Hessen

AI-based qualification, control and optimisation of material flows to close regional resource loops

Last week, the kick-off meeting for our new funded project on the AI-based optimisation of material flows took place in Wiesbaden: KISS – “AI-based qualification, steering and optimisation of streams to close regional resource loops”.

We are developing an AI platform to classify and make optimal use of plastic waste from industry, commerce and agriculture. Our goal is to increase the efficiency and sustainability of the circular economy. The project is publicly funded for three years by the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing as part of the Climate Plan and the Resource Transition funding call, and is supported by Technologieland Hessen. We thank them for their support and look forward to working together!

The project partners, all based in Hessen:
– RIGK GmbH: developing the AI platform and conducting lab tests for sorting within the PlastCert department
– R.A.M. GmbH: improving processing methods for processors and recyclers to enhance the quality of recycled materials and products while reducing waste
– plastship GmbH: providing a database for recycled materials and end applications
– Veridis: analysing and testing the composition of plastics

The project results are expected to greatly improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact. By using recycled materials and optimising transport routes, the project aims to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Stay tuned for more updates!
