Milestone 2025: CoaXPress 2.0 and GigE Vision

Demands on transfer speed, image resolution and system flexibility in industrial automation keep rising. That is why our optical systems rely on the two leading international machine-vision standards: CoaXPress 2.0 (CXP 2.0) and GigE Vision.

CoaXPress 2.0 for very fast real-time inspection
– High bandwidth: up to 12.5 Gbit/s per cable (CXP-12), over 50 Gbit/s by bundling several channels
– Precise triggering: real-time triggering with negligible jitter for exact synchronisation of cameras, lighting and control systems
– One cable for everything: with Power over CoaXPress (PoCXP), data, camera control and power run over a single coaxial cable – at lengths of up to 40 metres
– Relief for the host: hardware offloading and direct memory access (DMA) on the interface card keep the main processor free for image processing and AI evaluation

GigE Vision for flexible, scalable networks
– Long reach: 1 to 10 Gbit/s and cable lengths of up to 100 metres, even for large multi-camera set-ups
– Lean infrastructure: standard Ethernet components, no special frame grabber required
– Accurate synchronisation: the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) aligns multi-camera systems without additional trigger cables
– Easy installation: with Power over Ethernet (PoE), one network cable carries both power and data

Uniform software integration via GenICam
Both technologies use the vendor-independent GenICam standard. This ensures uniform camera control and keeps our optical applications future-proof.

This is how our systems achieve high image quality, short cycle times and high process reliability in quality control.
